Antony Harvey - Founder

I began my executive search career back in 2005 after returning from a post graduation (Law at City University, University of London) gap year that morphed into three years (Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa, USA, Singapore, Canada and Central America).

I spent the early part of my career working with senior and board level accountants across Commerce & Industry, working in a variety of sectors and covering some high profile clients including LVMH, Chanel, O2, Three, BP, Shell, Arcadia Group, Sony Music, Maersk Shipping, EasyJet, Virgin Management and Marks & Spencer.

Having always been fascinated by the intricacies of different organisations and what truly makes them tick in 2011, I moved into the world of Management Consulting and worked for PwC for the next five years. This change of direction enabled me to develop unparalleled experience of working with major, complex organisations, operating at board level with some of the smartest business brains in the UK and Europe. My clients included the BBC, Heineken, International Airlines Group and Aviva. I also benefited from working with some extremely talented colleagues, from those at junior level through to the partner/director community, many of whom remain world-leading figures in their chosen fields and members of my extensive, global network.

In 2016, I moved back into Executive Search and have spent the last decade of my career focusing on working with clients in the Central Government space, appointing outstanding individuals to Senior Civil Service Pay Bands 1, 2 and 3 positions as well as Non-Executives in major Government Departments (Department for Transport, Ministry of Defence, Department for Work & Pensions, Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office, Cabinet Office, Ministry of Justice and the Department for Business & Trade) as well as Arm’s Length Bodies, Non-Ministerial Departments, Regulators and Agencies (HM Revenue & Customs, HM Land Registry, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Crown Prosecution Service, Office of Rail & Road, Trade Remedies Authority, Crown Commercial Service, UK Hydrographic Office, HM Courts & Tribunals Service, the Pensions Ombudsman and General Pharmaceutical Council).

In Scotland, my clients have included the Scottish Government and several Arm’s Length Bodies and Major Institutions such as the Scottish Funding Council, Crown Estate Scotland, Magnox (Dounreay) Heriot-Watt University, the University of Edinburgh and University of Strathclyde Glasgow.

My work also has an international dimension and I have led successful campaigns for HMG in Mumbai, Beijing, Istanbul, Milan, São Paulo, Johannesburg and Singapore.

Outside Government, I have worked with Parliament placing the Chair and Board of the Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal Authority as well as the Chair and several Board Members of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). Other non-Central Government Clients include the Greater London Assembly and London Legacy Development Corporation.

I have also worked in the Third Sector with organisations including the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Action Aid, the RSPCA, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Guide Dogs and the NSPCC.

Much of my success has been built on utilising the deep networks in the private sector and professional services developed during the first half of my career for the benefit of Central Government and the Third Sector. I also bring natural curiosity and huge passion for my work which underpins everything I do. I founded Antony Harvey Executive to bring this approach to my well-established clients as well as organisations with whom I have not previously worked in order to deliver the most effective recruitment, coaching and consulting solutions.

I am married to Kathryn and have two amazing sons; I spend a lot of my weekends standing on various touchlines and boundaries in all kinds of weather. Golf, cycling, the gym and hiking keep me pretty active and I am huge fan of rugby (Saracens), football (Arsenal) and cricket (Surrey); though, my playing days are long behind me. I also love good food and great wine, fast cars and the South of France.
